The renovation of Cukrarna Palace in Ljubljana represents a comprehensive revitalization of an important cultural heritage site and its transformation into a contemporary public facility – the Ljubljana Youth Center. The project combines the preservation of historical elements with the integration of modern architectural solutions, with the building designed as a flexible, neutral structure suitable for a wide range of public programs. As part of the renovation, key original elements (structure, flooring, staircase, façade) were restored, while contemporary interventions were implemented, including a new annex for service functions, enabling minimal impact on the existing structure. Today, the building offers approximately 2,000 m² of functional space across four floors and represents an important part of the urban regeneration of the Cukrarna area, which is evolving into a modern, open, and multifunctional urban hub.
